The main building of the Takarazuka Music School, which had been used from 1937 to 1998, was renovated as a new place of transmitting culture. At the “Sumire Museum” on the second floor, photos of the Takarazuka Music School and teaching materials actually used in class are displayed. With the display of posters of past stars and showing of videos related to the Takarazuka Revue, visitors can enjoy the world of the Takarazuka Music School & Takarazuka Revue.
This is the dedicated theater of the “Takarazuka Revue,” a gorgeous dream world in which all the performers are women and characterized by a unique style. Its dynamic stage enhances the live performances and its gorgeous and fantastic world have fascinated many fans. With the genre of its performances varying, such as historical figures and literary works, a wide variety of repertories, including Japanese-style and Western-style performances, are also a secret of its popularity. The theater includes “Stage Studio,” where visitors can take commemorative photos in stage costumes (replicas) of Takarazuka stars.
Take a mere 9-minute train ride from Takarazuka Sta. on the JR Takarazuka Line, and the scenery of Mukogawa shows drastic changes with a gorge-like atmosphere. The seasonal transitions here are brilliant. In the experimental forest “Cherry Tree Garden (Ekiraku Sanso),” which was used by Shintaro Sasabe, a cherry blossom doctor who dedicated his life to the protection and growing of traditional Japanese cherry trees around the hot springs, there are over 1,000 cherry trees, mainly “Yamazakura,” which have been preserved till now. This area is also popular as a convenient hiking course.
