Over 400 varieties of dahlia bloom in the Satoyama (mountain-side settlement) of Kurokawa, which was even chosen as one of Japan’s Top 100 Villages Over 1000 dahlia plants have been carefully cultivated by the local people and new species can be seen every year in the garden spanning around 6,000 square meters. Seedlings of Japanese gentians, the flower of Kawanishi City, are also for sale while handmade Bento lunchboxes can be purchased on weekends and holidays.
