This sweet is made from Kawanishi’s specialty fig, “Asadori no Megumi” (Bounty of Morning Harvest). The ripened figs are half-dried and cut into strips. Stewed with only wine and sugar, the flavor is slowly concentrated at a low temperature. After the figs are cut into strips, they are dried again to make them as uniform as possible, resulting in a sweet with a melt-in-your-mouth texture. This meticulous and time-consuming process results in dried fruits that are easy on the palate. In addition to serving them as a light snack with black or green tea, the newly launched Wine Sticks are also a stylish snack that pairs well with wine or cold sake.
