Iwashizu Shrine

: This shrine has a long, distinguished history, proven by the fact that its name is recorded in the Engishiki, a text written in 927. The main shrine, with its thin wooden shingles and Kasuga-zukuri architectural style, is a city-designated Cultural Property; the nearly 9,000-square-meter forest, loved by locals as a rest spot.
The enshrined deity, Susanoo-no-Mikoto, is the god of poetry, learning, invention, and relationships; also located on the shrine grounds are Takarazuka Suitengu Shrine (for safe childbirth and nightlife business) and the Atago auxiliary shrine (for the god of fire).
